I Can Too

Our brand story began with a commitment.

"Mecantu" means "I can too" in Jamaican Patois, and embodies our belief that wellness should be simple, natural, and available to all.

Inspired by Jamaica’s Rich Traditions

Growing up on Jamaica’s south coast, I remember the fishermen walking through town selling sea moss. My grandmother would soak it overnight and boil it in the morning, making a thick, spiced drink for the family. It wasn’t called a superfood back then, it was just something that gave us "strength".

A Personal Search for Something Real

Years later, living in the UK, my mum found it difficult getting sea moss like what we had back home. The taste, the texture - it wasn’t the same. I wanted to help her keep the Saturday tradition alive, so I started sourcing it myself. Straight from the same place in Jamaica where we grew up. That search is what sparked Mecantu.

Honouring What Came Before Us

Mecantu exists to honour that family tradition and connection, and to share it with others. Every batch of our sea moss is handled with the same care and intention my grandmother showed in her kitchen. From the hands that harvest it in Jamaica to the moment it reaches your table, our sea moss carries a story of nourishment passed down.
