St. Elizabeth | Where It All Began

Friday Was Sea Moss Day.

Growing up in St. Elizabeth, sea moss wasn't something trendy - it was just life. Every Friday, my grandmother would meet local fishermen. They knew her by name. They knew she wanted only the best, freshly harvested that morning. That was our south coast way.

I'd watch, perched on the counter as she rinsed every strand gently. The kitchen filled with steam and stories about plants, about wellness, and about care. By evening, what began as sea moss had become something magical. Smooth. Silken. Ready to nourish every spoonful we shared.

It wasn’t just food. It was her love, passed down quietly.

Same Sea Moss. Same Spirit.

Years later, not much has changed.

Mecantu sea moss still comes from the very same waters that shaped those memories.
It’s still hand-harvested with care, still prepared slowly, and still respected for the nutrients it provide. It's what generations before us instinctively knew - that real nourishment is gentle and shared. We are just honouring this tradition.

Part of A Bigger Story.

St. Elizabeth is just one parish. There are 14 parishes in Jamaica, each with its own story to share. As you collect them you're stepping into a story that's been unfolding for generations. Sea moss was never just about health, it was about connecting with nature and passing on generational wellness.

To thank you for being a part of the story.
